Do you really know him?

Yes, he writes. You and so many others could relate with those write-ups he comes up with late nights. You feel amazed at how he can just ink down your exact feelings on paper. It’s almost like he went through the exact same things as you did.
Though, it may very well be an illusion. He may have gone through what he writes about or maybe it was you who did. His words could just be your story, that he heard from you and made it his own. How so, you ask.
Well, because he feels every damn thing. He soaks it all in. He loves strongly and he doesn’t know how to hold back his emotions. Maybe he doesn’t even want to.
I believe that’s a writer’s blessings as well as his curse.
To be able to see all these stories brewing up around him that are practically invisible to the naked eye.
To be able to walk in shoes of so many different shapes and sizes.
To be able to row the boat through the vortex of so many complex emotions. To reach the calm, to make sense of everything.
Impressed yet? Don’t be. Because the question still stands, do you really know him? Or rather, is it possible to know him?
Does he look like a regular human with one single personae or an amalgam of all the striking personalities he has ever bonded with.
Pay attention now, I’m about to blow his cover.
Go through the details and you can see it as well.
He stresses more on getting back up after the setbacks of life because he took more time to get back up than it was needed.
He almost begs you to fall in love with yourself because he knows how loving someone else could turn out to be hurtful.
He keeps writing about his town and its people because he is home sick and he is dying to get back to his people.
Or maybe he experienced none of all that, he just feels all of that. And it was through you that he could reciprocate those emotions.

So, no.
I don’t think you really know him. I don’t think he really knows himself either.
Everyday, every hour, every minute, he is a different person.
The only thing that never changes is his heart, who despite having taken such heavy blows still knows no hatred.

Even when he wants to be cold to this world, his warm heart just thaws out the darkness lurking in those corners.
So maybe you should just look past the idea of knowing him. Just being able to relate to his emotions would still be enough. Maybe, that’s all he ever needed.
